So I've had a few people ask me why I decided to go with the name Pomegranate Blessings for my business and I wanted to write it out to explain it the best!
The word "blessings" may be obvious, I wanted to convey what I sell and also to give a bit of meaning so I will mostly discuss why I chose the word "Pomegranate." Many of the pieces I sell are blessings or contain blessings and are intended to bring peace and brachos (Hebrew for blessing) to the people who have them in their spaces.
Pomegranates have a lot of symbolism in both Jewish culture and in the Torah. Today, many people have started enjoying the pomegranate fruit because of its healthy antioxidant properties.
Rimon, Hebrew for pomegranate, has many roots in the Torah. King Solomon said to have designed his crown based on the crown of the pomegranate. Also, pomegranates were worn on the bottom of the hem of the robes that the Hebrew High Priests wore in the temple.
Additionally pomegranates are a symbol of righteousness because it is said to have 613 seeds, which corresponds to the 613 mitzvot or commandments of the Torah. Many people will each pomegranates on Rosh Hashanah.
May these many "Pomegranate Blessings" bring light and brachot to your home!
